Quick Synopsis: All age holiday fun with all your favorite Batman characters! Heroes AND Villians!!
In honor of Gotham’s premiere on FOX last night, I decided today was the day I’d reveal to the world that I absolutely love Batman: Li’l Gotham.
Nguyen provided the gorgeous art. Each character is drawn as a shorter, chubbier, way cuter version of themselves. The art alone was what originially caught my attention. I just HAD to read it when I saw the cutest cover art of any comic I had ever seen.
I was not disappointed.
This collection follows everyone’s favorite Caped Crusader and Damien throughout a year full of holidays, beginning with Halloween and ending with…Mother’s day.
It is definitely more child-oriented but adults will love it too. It is super funny and full of great action. It’s an incredibly short and fast read. The price reflects that. It’s cheaper than most other trades I have purchased in the past but because of it’s blatant shortness, I would hold off and get the trades (collections) rather than buy the singles (whether physical or digital).
Another cool thing about this edition is it comes with the singles cover art in the back pages. So you get to experience all the holiday cuteness with the most adorable versions of Arkham’s most sick and demented tenants. Do yourself a favor and buy this, for yourself, your kids, your future kids, mostly yourself though, because it’s just that funny.
ps. I know it’s weird to think of these as “funny” characters because they’re usually kind of depressing and gritty, but it’s definitely worth. If not for the diversity of stories, for the art.
